Lessons Learned from Failed Expeditions
Every season, trekkers are evacuated because of avoidable mistakes. Knowing what NOT to do is as important as knowing what to do on your Mount Everest expedition.
It’s not a race. Walking fast prevents acclimatization. If you are out of breath while talking, you are going too fast. The tortoise wins the race to the Everest summit view.
Denial is dangerous. If you have a headache, admit it. Taking a rest day saves the trip. Pushing through leads to evacuation. Listen to your body and your guide.
You don't need clean clothes every day. A heavy bag tires you out (or your porter). Pack light, wash essentials, and embrace the trekker smell. It makes the Everest trekking experience more enjoyable.
Respect the altitude, pack light, and go slow. Success on Everest is about patience and preparation.
