Be Your Own Doctor on the Trail
There are no pharmacies on the trail. You must carry your own pharmacy. Here is the checklist for a safe Everest trekking adventure.
Diamox (Altitude), Ibuprofen (Pain/Inflammation), and Imodium (Diarrhea). These solve 90% of trekker problems. Have them accessible in your daypack on your Mount Everest expedition.
Compeed, moleskin, and tape. Treat hot spots immediately before they become blisters. You can't walk to the Everest summit view with raw feet.
Carry a course of Cipro or Azithromycin for severe stomach infections. Consult your doctor for a prescription before leaving. It can save your trip.
Don't bring the whole hospital, just the essentials. Knowing how to use them is as important as having them.
