Trekking on the Border of Tibet Far From Everest
The Limi Valley in Humla district is as remote as it gets. Unlike the well-trodden Everest trekking paths, this trek follows the ancient salt trading route to the Tibetan border. It is a journey into a medieval world.
The valley consists of three isolated villages: Til, Halji, and Jang. The Halji monastery is ancient. The people here are culturally Tibetan, similar to the high communities seen on a Mount Everest expedition.
The trek involves crossing high passes, offering views of Mount Kailash. The landscape is arid and vast, contrasting with the dramatic peaks of the Everest summit region.
This is strictly a camping trek. You need a full crew. It is logistically demanding, unlike the teahouse-supported Everest trekking routes, guaranteeing solitude.
Limi Valley is for the veteran trekker who has 'seen it all' in Nepal, including the Everest Base Camp, and wants something raw and beautiful.
