Socializing in the Teahouse
Once you arrive at the lodge, you have hours to kill. Playing cards is the universal language of trekkers. It breaks the ice and passes the time during your Everest trekking evenings.
Learn 'Dumbal' (or Jhyap). The porters play it constantly. Ask them to teach you. It’s a great way to bond with your crew on the Mount Everest expedition.
Bring a deck of cards or Uno. You will play with people from Japan, Germany, and Brazil. You don't need to speak the same language to play cards.
Playing games keeps you off your phone. It builds community. The laughter in the dining hall is one of the best memories of the trek to the Everest summit view.
It weighs nothing but provides hours of entertainment.
