Kathmandu Lhasa Kailash Mansarovar Overland Tour

Lhasa Cultural Immersion and Full Moon at Mansarovar

Lhasa Cultural Immersion and Full Moon at Mansarovar

Kailash

This exclusive 15-day pilgrimage begins with a spectacular flight from Kathmandu over the Himalayas to the forbidden city of Lhasa (3,700 m). Travelers spend the first few days exploring Tibet’s greatest cultural treasures—Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Street, and Tashilhunpo Monastery—while comfortably acclimatizing in 4-star hotels with pure vegetarian Indian meals. The journey then crosses the vast Tibetan plateau by luxury coach, offering gradual altitude gain and panoramic views en route to the sacred Lake Mansarovar.

The spiritual climax unfolds at Lake Mansarovar (4,590 m) and Mount Kailash (6,638 m), with many 2026 departures perfectly timed for the auspicious Full Moon (Purnima) for holy dip and puja. Pilgrims complete the sacred 52-km Outer Kailash Kora over three days with yak support, crossing the revered Dolma La Pass (5,630 m)—symbol of rebirth—and enjoying the closest north-face darshan from Dirapuk Monastery. Comprehensive medical support, oxygen cylinders, and a Gamow bag ensure safety throughout.

Returning via Shigatse and Lhasa, the tour ends with a scenic flight back to Kathmandu. Combining maximum comfort (4-star city hotels, luxury coaches, Indian cook), deep cultural immersion in Lhasa, and the holiest pilgrimage experience with Full Moon blessings, this is widely regarded as the most luxurious and fulfilling way to undertake the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.

For the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, proper packing is essential due to the high-altitude, remote terrain and rapidly changing weather. Temperatures can drop below freezing even in summer, especially during the 3-day Kailash Kora (parikrama). Pack warm, layered clothing including thermal innerwear, fleece jackets, and a high-quality down jacket (provided free by us). A waterproof and windproof outer layer is critical, along with warm woolen cap, gloves, muffler, and thick socks. Comfortable, broken-in trekking shoes with good grip are a must for the Kora, and sandals/slippers for camps and hotels. UV-protected sunglasses, sunscreen (SPF 50+), lip balm, and moisturizer are vital to protect against intense high-altitude sun and wind. We provide complimentary down jacket, sleeping bag, duffle bag, day pack, walking stick, oxygen cylinder, and Gamow bag. Personal medicines, reusable water bottle, headlamp, power bank, raincoat/poncho, and light snacks are highly recommended. Packing light yet warm ensures comfort and mobility during this sacred and physically demanding pilgrimage.
